Whose Plan Is It?

Whose Plan Is It?

The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. - Prov 16:1

We read a passage like this and we often think that God's will for our direction and plans should first be revealed to us through prayer, before we act or step into them.

Then we read another passage as follows.

Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. - Prov 16:3

This seems to indicate that we are the ones planning ahead and stepping into the plans as we commit our work to God.

Which one is right? The answer is Yes.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. - Prov 3:5-6

Whether it is first revealed to us before we act, or we first act into our plans before we realise it's in God's will, the important thing is not about the sequence. What is vital is simply our trust in Him.

As long as we trust Him in every step of the way, both ways can take place. There isn't a hard and fast rule in the Kingdom, because the Kingdom is not about system. It's about relationship. And relationship is about trust.

As Singaporeans, we are always more interested in "what must come first", instead of "WHO must come first."
