Wisdom Protects You BUT Foolishness Makes You Vulnerable

Wisdom Protects You BUT Foolishness Makes You Vulnerable

Wisdom = Hear the Word and DO them
Foolishness = Hear the Word and DON'T do them

Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and π›πžπšπ 𝐨𝐧 that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and π›πžπšπ 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐒𝐧𝐬𝐭 that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” - Matt 7:24-27

I have read this passage for so many times. But this is the first time I noticed that it uses 'beat on' VS 'beat against'.

In the Greek, it does not have the word 'on' OR 'against'. For both sentences, it only uses the word 'beat'.

However, the Greek word used for 'beat' (for the wise man) is different from the Greek word used for 'beat' (for the foolish man).

The former (for the wise man) uses 'prospiptΓ³', which means 'to fall upon, fall prostrate before.'

The latter (for the foolish man) uses 'proskoptΓ³', which means 'to strike against, to stumble.'

The wise man who built his house on the Rock is protected. The rain, the floods and the winds submit and fall before him. Because he does the Word, he becomes the Word, and the fiery darts have to bow before the Word.

The foolish man who built his house on the sand is vulnerable. The same rain, the same floods and the same winds strike against him to make him stumble. Because he does NOT do the Word, the fiery darts attack him.

When we do the Word, wisdom rests upon us. Circumstances come to us but land at our feet. Jesus!
